Martial arts with creative freedom

Sho Gigei Karate Federation

This is the home page of the Sho Gigei Karate Federation.

Sho Gigei Karate was founded by Mark Johnson Sensei/Sa Bum Nim in February 2007.  The foundational core of this unique system is primarily a blend of Tae Kwon Do and Wado Karate.  The name Sho Gigei means various arts.  That name was chosen to give some individual creativity allowances to each school that teaches this system. This is a traditional styled art without being put in the box of  tradition.

Sensei/Sa Bum Nim Johnson's belief is if you bind yourself to the mind set of tradition you become closed minded to the benefits of other martial arts styles.  All traditional styles have good philosophies as well as good techniques otherwise they would not have withstood the test of time.

The Sho Gigei Karate Federation does not limit what you can teach nor get offended if you wish to make additions to what you teach.  So long as you do not make any changes to the fundamental style of Sho Gigei Karate (all katas and basic supplimentals must remain constant among all Sho Gigei Karate schools).
